Congratulations on purchasing a Cuckoo Clock! We are confident that this original Quartz Black Forest Cuckoo Clock will add character and charm to your home and that you and your family will be rewarded with a lifetime of pleasurable memories.
With proper care and maintenance, your new clock will last a lifetime. This guide should answer most of your questions on its proper setup.
To avoid “uh-oh” and unnecessary frustration, please review the diagrams and read the unpacking and hanging instructions once before unpacking your new treasure. Then follow the steps once again as you unpack and hang your clock
STEP ONE
Before doing anything – move the minute hand (the long one) clockwise until you reach 10 minutes until 7:00 (6:50). This will start the clock at 6:50 AM so the cuckoo count will sync correctly with the hour.
STEP TWO
Move the release clips on the back, top of the clock so the back may open. Remove the back and install 2 new D cells pointing in the direction indicated and a AA battery in the middle.
STEP THREE – Release the pendulum guide that may be locked in a pin at the left hand side so it may move back and forth freely.
STEP FOUR – Replace the back panel and lock the clips securely, then turn the volume control from the off position to full volume.
STEP FIVE – Turn the minute hand (the long one) CLOCKWISE until you reach the proper time. You should hear the first Cuckoo count 7 times when passing 7:00 AM and 8 times at 8:00 and so on until you reach the correct time in your area. This is a 24 hour time clock beginning at 7:00 AM for the first cuckoo count.
STEP SIX – Remove the chain bag on the bottom of the clock and install the 2 weights on the two chains on the bottom. Hang the pendulum in the slot on the black pendulum hanger at the bottom of the clock. Now mount the Crown on the top of the clock.
Your clock should be working properly and your chime sync should be at the proper count. Adjust the volume of the cuckoo to your liking. The cuckoo bird will turn off at 10:00 PM and start again at 7:00 AM. If you wish to silence the cuckoo bird, turn the volume to the lowest position or off.
TIME ADJ BUTTON – If you have followed the above instructions, you will not need to touch this switch. It’s purpose is to advance the hour count from the cuckoo by ONE hour each time it is depressed. For example, if your clock hands just read 10:00 and the clock counted 9 cuckoo calls, you may then press the time adjust button once and the cuckoo call will advance one hour. It will advance one hour each time it is depressed. If you are having difficulty getting the time to sync with the cuckoo, it may be easier to follow the above steps one through five again.
Hanging the clock with a stud. – Now you may hang the clock on the wall. A secure screw coming directly out of the wall works well for this clock. If a stud behind drywall is available, always use the stud with a screw coming straight out of the stud through the drywall exposing about 1/2 – 3/4 of an inch outside the drywall.
